A New Chapter with NÄNNI PÄÄ
If you’ve been following us for a while, you’ll already know all about The Billboard Project — our ever-evolving collaboration with Open/Close Dundee. Every six months or so, we invite a new artist to completely transform the 10ft billboard on the side of our Dundee building, turning it into a bold piece of public art.
Each commission brings a fresh burst of energy to the space, and the project sustains itself through limited-edition merch featuring the artwork from each installation. Every purchase helps fund the next commission, keeping the cycle of creativity alive.
For this latest instalment, we’re beyond excited to announce our new collaborator: NÄNNI PÄÄ. Her piece illustrates, in the most whimsical way, the place of hospitality in society. She added in a Celtic knot which is linked to gatherings and interconnection, a Daisy for new beginnings and fire which is used in most Scottish traditional ceremonies as a symbol of gathering, rebirth and collective celebration.
A Special Collaboration: Bon Accord x The Billboard Project
Now for the extra-sparkly bit.
As part of NANNI PAA’s commission, we’ve teamed up with the iconic soda legends Bon Accord, who recently brought their operations back home to Dundee, a story which started in 1903. Together, we’ve created a limited-edition run of labels for their Rhubarb Soda, which is their top selling drink. The beautifully designed label featuring NANNI PAA’s artwork, works as a ‘mini billboard’ to spread the word about the project. We’re so thankful for the support given by bon accord.
Every penny from the sale of these goes straight back into The Billboard Project, helping us commission even more artists in the future.
